A tour supporting insatiable Swedish electro-popster Robyn helped Diamond Rings’ John O’Regan shift away from the glam-tinged brooding of his 2010 debut—which bore still-unhealed scars from a battle with Crohn’s disease—into a sparkly, confident sophomore set, the recently released ‘Free Dimensional.’ But deep-rooted emotion still twists beneath the new album’s rayon sheen, as seen in this spare, acoustic version of “Put Me On,” played in the open window of a SoHo apartment.
